Janie Escamilla, master esthetician, founded Moonstone Skin and Body Care, a luxury spa in high-net-worth Marin County. Her mission is to offer non-invasive, advanced skincare treatments as anti-aging alternatives to plastic surgery and Botox, such as microcurrent facials, nanofusion and jet plasma. This also includes high-quality natural products, including Eminence Organics and Image Skincare, high-end supplements and holistic benefits.

The brand caters to community leaders and professionals who value wellness, innovation, being leading trend-setters and personal care.

Challenge

As Moonstone’s client base expanded, Janie needed help to:

  • Reactivate the brand’s blog and social media channels to stay top-of-mind with existing clients.

  • Position herself and her growing team as expert, friendly resources in advanced skincare.

  • Engage affluent target clients by educating them on exclusive treatments and high-quality products.

  • Increase traffic to the spa and attract new clients while maintaining consistent branding across all platforms.

Strategy

I implemented a comprehensive content strategy, focused on reactivating the brand’s online presence and consistently reflecting its core values. My strategy revolved around three content pillars:

  1. SKINCARE EXPERTISE - Blog posts, social media tips and product spotlights showcasing routines, ingredients and product benefits.

  2. SPA SERVICES - Behind-the-scenes content, application tutorials and educational posts about the spa’s innovative treatments.

  3. CORPORATE - Personal insights from the owner, team spotlights and community involvement to humanize the brand. No matter the topic, copy linked back to the brand’s key messaging.

Content Calendar & Cross-Channel Strategy

I created a content calendar that synced the blog, social media channels and email content with the customer journey stages:

  • Awareness: Blogs, Emails, Newsletters

  • Consideration: Social Media Posts, Videos

  • Conversion: Targeted Social Media Campaigns

Brand Voice & Copy Guidelines

I developed brand positioning, key messaging and voice guidelines to ensure a consistent tone across all channels that exhibited the following traits: nurturing, knowledgeable and authentic, yet playful.

Digital Content & Copywriting

Developed a content marketing calendar, strategizing monthly themes and individual content topics, assigning them to the appropriate vehicles and repurposing the content between channels to maximize impact. Themes and topics were based on seasonal needs, announcements, holidays and prioritized services.

Using the copy guidelines, I maintained a consistent voice threaded throughout all content. I defined the brand’s personality based on the owner’s influence and client feedback. She came across as fun, friendly, informed, genuine and down-to-earth.

Worked with the brand’s colors (green, rose, white) to create a soothing, upscale social media aesthetic, ensuring the visuals aligned with the brand's personality. This included ensuring brand representation on the Instagram feed.

Holiday Gift Guide Landing Page

Created guide to promote the business for the holiday season, connecting it to a social media campaign, increasing traffic by 305%.

Monthly E-Newsletters

Wrote monthly emails sent to subscribers, which increased by 30% after continued momentum.

Paid Magazine Advertorial

Wrote a paid feature to advertise the business’ advanced body treatment for summer, securing 270k media impressions.

Social Media Campaign Work Example: Client Appreciation Week

CHALLENGE: To generate excitement and awareness for the new season with a promotion to drive clients back to the spa.

SOLUTION: Created “Client Appreciation Week” with an announcement on the Facebook and Instagram channels, followed by two weeks of social media posts with cross-promotions via email outreach and a Q&A with the esthetician servicing the promotion. Each post highlighted a different skin concern with corresponding service and product solutions to consider purchasing during the promotion .

RESULTS:
